Shola Shodiya, Joseph Okonkwo Shortlisted For MFA Award

Two Nigerian players in Malta have been shortlisted for the 2013 - 2014 edition of the Malta Football Awards.<br /><br />For the best player in the Premier League, Birkirkara attacker Shola Shodiya will compete with teammate Paul Fenech and Denni Dos Santos of Valletta.<br /><br />Experienced Fgura United&nbsp; striker Joseph Okonkwo is one of the four players nominated for the best player in the Second Division, and he is thrilled to get this recognition from the organizers.<br /><br />&ldquo;Thanks to god, my teammates and coaches that made it possible for me to be nominated. <br /><br />&ldquo;At the start of the season, our ambition was to get promotion and we achieved our target, &rdquo; Joseph Okonkwo, who has recommended several Nigerian players to Maltese clubs, told <b>allnigeriasoccer.com</b>.<br /><br />Joseph Okonkwo netted 13 goals for Fgura United while Shola Shodiya scored 14 goals in 31 starts for vice champions Birkirkara.<br /><br />The award ceremony will take place after the European Under 17 Championship being held in the Island Nation. <br />
