Super Eagles defender Kevin Akpoguma is set to leave TSG Hoffenheim at the end of the season following the expiration of his contract, bringing an end to his long association with the Bundesliga club.
The 31-year-old defender, who has been with Hoffenheim since 2013, has endured a frustrating campaign marked by limited playing opportunities.
Akpoguma has featured in just eight matches across all competitions this season, accumulating only 56 minutes of action as he struggled to break into the club's regular starting lineup.
Despite his reduced role, the Nigerian international remained professional throughout the campaign and continued to fight for his place in the squad.
However, with his contract set to expire this summer, his departure from Hoffenheim now appears imminent.
According to reports from German outlet Kicker, Akpoguma could be preparing for an emotional farewell when Hoffenheim host SV Werder Bremen at the PreZero Arena.
Akpoguma is currently the longest-serving player in the Hoffenheim squad, having spent thirteen years with the club, a year longer than captain Oliver Baumann, albeit with brief interruptions during loan spells.
Over the years, he established himself as a dependable figure in the team and became one of the experienced leaders within the dressing room.
