Slovakia centre-back reveals what Fenerbahce must do to stop Osimhen from wreaking havoc

Speaking ahead of Monday's Intercontinental Derby, Slovakia centre-back Milan Škriniar has shared his thoughts on how Fenerbahce can contain Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen has been in fine form for club and country this season, netting 14 goals in 17 appearances for Galatasaray and the Super Eagles.

However, Galatasaray are sweating over the fitness of their their centre-forward following the injury he sustained while on international duty with the Super Eagles in the African final of the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoffs.

Škriniar knows all about Osimhen's qualities, having faced the former Napoli star six times in his career, recording one win and three draws, while suffering two defeats.

The defender highlighted that Fenerbahce will need to maintain organisation at the back and avoid giving Osimhen space, while staying alert to the threat of other attackers like Mauro Icardi.

In quotes relayed by Turkish sports daily Fanatik, Škriniar stated: "We spoke about Galatasaray for the first time today. We'll have video analysis meetings tomorrow.

"We hadn't discussed this match before because the next one is always the most important one for us. Icardi and Osimhen are both very good strikers.

"What we need to do is be compact, aggressive and united so we can stop them."

A victory over their Istanbul rivals on Monday could see Fenerbahce top the table after fourteen rounds of matches.
