1994 Africa Cup of Nations-winning striker Efan Ekoku is backing Leicester City to finish in the top four and qualify for next season's Champions League despite their dip in form, with only one win in their last seven Premier League games.
In one of the most competitive fights for Champions League places, Brendan Rodgers side in third position are five points above fourth placed Chelsea, while Manchester United are nine points behind the King Power Stadium
outfit ahead of their trip to Everton on Sunday.
Ignoring the recent judgement passed on Manchester City, the likes of Tottenham, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield United, Burnley and Arsenal are also battling for the two remaining Champions League spots.
In quotes carried by LeicestershireLive citing Sky Sports, Ekoku said : "I would be concerned if I was a Leicester fan. We were standing right beside the Leicester fans for the last five minutes and there was quite a few who were agitated.
"The fortunate thing for them is that the teams behind them keep tripping up.
"Manchester United are on a decent run at the moment, unbeaten in a few matches, but Spurs and Chelsea are showing signs of fragility, which they have done throughout the season.
"I just think that eight-game winning streak that Leicester had before Christmas could be that crucial spell where they opened up that gap.
"I don't think the sides behind them have got the confidence that they can bridge that gap.
"Leicester, who are not in great form themselves, can probably afford even one or two more slips and still be ahead of that chasing pack."
Leicester City have played in European competitions four times in the past, the last coming during the 2016-2017 campaign when they reached the quarterfinal of the Champions League.
