Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman continued his resurgence with a goal in the club’s 2–0 win over Fiorentina at the Gewiss Stadium.
Lookman, who endured a difficult start to the campaign, doubled Atalanta’s lead early in the second half after Odilon Kossounou had opened the scoring before the break.
The Nigerian international reacted quickest inside the box, firing home from close range just six minutes after the restart as Fiorentina failed to clear a corner in the 51st minute.
The goal takes his tally to two in nine Serie A appearances, marking a positive turn after a turbulent summer in which a proposed move to Inter Milan fell through.
Lookman had already signaled a return to form with a strike against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League midweek.
His upturn will be a welcome boost for Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Chelle, who has watched the forward struggle in recent months, will be hopeful Lookman can carry his renewed momentum into national team duty.
Nigeria has been placed in Group C alongside Uganda, Tunisia, and Tanzania, as the Super Eagles target a fourth AFCON title following the disappointment of missing out on qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
