Super Eagles forward Moses Simon to work again with Kombouare as Paris FC appoint new coach

In an official statement released on their website, French Ligue 1 side Paris FC have confirmed the appointment of Antoine Kombouaré as head coach of the first team, effective Monday, February 23.

Kombouaré takes over from Stéphane Gilli, who was relieved of his duties after a disappointing run of results that saw the capital club fail to secure a victory in their last six competitive fixtures.

During Gilli’s tenure, Nigeria international Moses Simon made twenty appearances for the club, contributing three goals and two assists.

Kombouaré’s arrival also reunites him with Simon, who previously worked under the 62-year-old at Nantes.

The Super Eagles assistant captain flourished under Kombouaré at Nantes, directly participating in 51 goals (23 goals, 28 assists) across 125 matches.

After 23 league fixtures, Paris FC find themselves languishing in 15th place, holding only a six-point cushion over AJ Auxerre in the relegation play-off position.

Promoted to Ligue 1 at the end of last season, Paris FC have managed just five victories since August, alongside eight draws and ten defeats, and their Coupe de France campaign ended in the Round of 16 at the hands of Lorient.
