Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru has come under heavy criticism after post-match images of him and compatriot Victor Osimhen went viral following Galatasaray's 3-2 victory over Genclerbirligi on Saturday.
Onyekuru, who returned to the Turkish topflight in the summer, was brought on in the final 14 minutes of the encounter as a replacement for M'Baye Niang.
Despite his introduction, Genclerbirligi failed to snatch a point as the Yellow-Reds held firm for a narrow win at Rams Park.
However, the Nigerian winger courted controversy after cameras captured him leaving the stadium alongside Osimhen, who missed the game due to injury but was present in the stands to show support for his teammates.
According to Karadenizgazete, the friendly interaction between the pair did not sit well with some supporters, who felt Onyekuru's demeanor after a tense and hard-fought defeat was inappropriate.
The critics questioned his commitment and focus, especially given his struggle to make a significant impact since rejoining the Süper Lig.
The 28-year-old is yet to score or assist in eight league appearances this season, a run of poor form that has further raised concerns among fans about his contribution and long-term value to the club.
In contrast, Osimhen has been a standout performer for Galatasaray, netting nine goals in twelve matches across all competitions before suffering his recent injury. His influence has been pivotal in the club's strong start to the campaign.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk will be hoping the prolific striker makes a swift return to action ahead of their crucial UEFA Champions League meeting with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, as well as the high-profile Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe.
