English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to tie down promising Nigerian midfielder Toju Wellspring to a new deal before the start of the 2026–2027 campaign.
According to Tottenham Hotspur youth team insider Lilywhite Rose, Wellspring has been offered a two-year contract that would see him join the U18 squad next season.
Under Premier League regulations, all players in their U17 year must begin the 2026-2027 season on a scholarship agreement before becoming eligible to sign their first professional contract on or after their 17th birthday.
Should Wellspring accept the offer, he will be promoted to Tottenham Hotspur’s U18s on a permanent basis next season.
The talented teenager has already had a taste of U18 football this term, making five appearances and scoring one goal in the U18 Premier League.
Born in 2015, Wellspring was an unused substitute as Spurs defeated Villarreal 5–3 in their UEFA Youth League opener back in September, a reflection of the high regard in which he is held by the club's academy coaches.
Miracle Adewole and Callum Olusesi represent Tottenham Hotspur academy teams, while Damola Ajayis spending the whole of this season on loan at League One side Doncaster Rovers.
