The four Super Eagles players walking a disciplinary tightrope against Uganda

As Nigeria prepares to face Uganda in their final Africa Cup of Nations group stage match, attention turns to four Super Eagles players walking a disciplinary line.

Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Semi Ajayi, and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are all one yellow card away from suspension, a situation that could shape Nigeria’s approach to the game.

Osimhen, the team’s talismanic striker, carries the risk of missing the knockout stage if booked.

Paul Onuachu stands ready to step in should the coaching staff choose to rest Osimhen to safeguard his availability for the last-16.

Ademola Lookman, who has netted in both of Nigeria’s AFCON fixtures so far, is another player under close scrutiny.

Resting him could allow Samuel Chukwueze to return to the starting XI after being replaced by Frank Onyeka in the previous match.

Semi Ajayi also faces the threat of suspension. Adjustments may see Zaidu Sanusi return at full-back as Bruno Onyemaehi makes way, depending on how the coaching team manages Ajayi’s risk.

Stanley Nwabali, following a less-than-convincing display at the weekend, may be rested to avoid disciplinary jeopardy, with Francis Uzoho first in line to take his place if required.

For Nigeria, the spotlight falls on Osimhen, Lookman, Ajayi, and Nwabali, whose careful management could prove crucial in keeping the Super Eagles at full strength for the knockout rounds.
