Stoke City ended a sequence of four successive goalless draws after beating Blackburn Rovers 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, thanks to Oghenekaro Etebo's first-half scorcher.
The former Warri Wolves star came to England with a reputation as a versatile midfielder with offensive and defensive attributes and has ticked the right boxes in recent weeks, scoring two goals and helping the team keep four clean sheets in his last four appearances in the Championship.
Speaking after the match at Ewood Park, Potters manager Nathan Jones was delighted with Etebo's strike.
He told reporters : ''We have played some wonderful football first half and had the penalty which would have been 2-0, so we could have made it a lot easier on ourselves.
"But I cannot fault the work-rate, resilience and some of our football.
"The goal is as good as you can see with fluent football and a finish to top it off.''
Etebo penned a five-year deal with Stoke City in July 2018 but it is envisaged that Premier League teams will make a move for his services when the transfer window reopens.
