Former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie fears that ex-Flying Eagles midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh might struggle to break into Glasgow Rangers' starting lineup next season.
Three months ago, the Scottish Premiership champions announced the pre-contract signing of Ofoborh from AFC Bournemouth on a four-year deal which will begin in the summer.
The ex-Tottenham Hotspur schoolboy spent the second half of the 2020-2021 campaign on loan at Wycombe Wanderers but his appearances were few and far between, making only three starts for the Chairboys in the Championship.
Ofoborh wasn't named in the matchday squad for Wycombe's last ten matches in the second-tier.
"If you’re not getting a game for Wycombe…They loaned him out and he’s not getting a game, my god. It’s not looking good, " McAvennie told Football Insider.
"There has to be some doubts there if he will leave Rangers without playing.
"Maybe the manager down there didn’t want him playing if he wouldn’t be there next season. I really don’t get that.
"If he comes up here and thinks he can stroll the Premiership after getting relegated, he’ll soon learn. Good luck with that one.
"Gerrard must see something in the boy. Something the rest of us can’t."
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has said that he would be keeping an eye on Ofoborh next season at Rangers with a view to an invitation to the Super Eagles before the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
