Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr isn't exempted as he is reportedly making the list of players whom he believes will get the job done in Egypt, and many supporters want to see a group of in-form and active players.
Unfortunately, there are some influential players in the team who aren't getting regular game-time in their European clubs but are in contention to be named in the Super Eagles AFCON squad. Who are these players?
Moses Simon
Moses Simon has been a bit-part player in Levante setup throughout this season, and has featured in 18 La Liga matches, including ten substitute appearances, since his switch to the Ciutat de València Stadium.
Irrespective of his current situation in his club, Moses is in contention make the final squad heading to Egypt because he remains one of Rohr's favorite players.
Leon Balogun
The Brighton centre-back has been inactive for three months and his fitness level should be a major concern for Rohr and his backroom staff.
Despite his match rustiness, Balogun's place is very much secured except he picks up a lengthy injury that will rule him out of the entire competition.
Francis Uzoho
The 20-year-old goaltender was handed his Super Eagles debut by Rohr prior to Russia 2018 World and he was eventually installed as the team's first-choice goalkeeper during the competition.
Things haven't been going smoothly for Uzoho since his loan move to Anorthosis in Cyprus.
Though his unimpressive club form might affect his chances of being the Super Eagles first-choice, Uzoho is certainly going to be part of the team in Egypt.
