Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu delivered a superb performance on Monday, scoring twice as Trabzonspor secured a convincing 3–1 victory over Kayserispor in their Turkish Super Lig clash at the Kadir Has Stadium.
The Nigerian international opened the scoring two minutes into first-half stoppage time, rising highest to head home a cross from Wagner Pina.
Onuachu struck again five minutes later, calmly converting from the penalty spot with almost the last kick of the half to give Trabzonspor a comfortable lead heading into the break.
Trabzonspor extended their advantage in the second half after Kayserispor goalkeeper Bilal Bayazit inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
Russian-Nigerian forward German Onugha later pulled one back for the hosts in the 82nd minute, but it proved to be only a consolation as the visitors held on for a dominant victory.
The brace saw Onuachu continue his impressive scoring run in the Turkish Super Lig, finding the net in seven consecutive league matches.
During the streak, the striker scored against Kasimpasa, Antalyaspor, Samsunspor, Fenerbahçe, Gaziantep FK, Fatih Karagümrük, and Kayserispor taking his tally to nine goals in those seven games.
With the feat, the towering forward has equaled the longest goal-scoring streak of his professional league career.
He previously achieved the milestone during the 2020/2021 season while playing for Belgian side KRC Genk.
Onuachu’s latest goals also placed him in Trabzonspor’s history books, becoming the first player since Burak Yılmaz between December 2011 and January 2012 to score in seven consecutive matches for the club.
Overall, the Nigerian striker has now recorded 22 goals and two assists in 25 league appearances this season, further cementing his status as one of the most prolific forwards in the Turkish top flight.
