Troost-Ekong : We Were Not Good Enough Against Madagascar

Madagascar took three points against Nigeria in the final group stage game of Group B at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, as they booked their first ever last 16 ticket.

Goals from Lalaina Nomenjanahary and Carolus Andriamahitsinoro saw the Islanders shock the three-time African champions.

Udinese defender William Troost-Ekong was one of the five changes made by manager Gernot Rohr to the side that beat Guinea 1-0 in their second group game.

And it was a catastrophic error from Ekong's defensive partner Leon Balogun that gifted their opponents the opening goal after he fumbled a pass from John Ogu.

''We were not good enough today so we will learn from this and we'll move on,'' Ekong said post-match.

''We have to keep fighting, I think it is wake-up call now, we are going to be ready for the next game.

''We did enough in the first two games, we wanted to do better this game and we'll prepare for the next one''.
