U17 AFCON Nigeria 1 Uganda 1: Jabaar Nets Equaliser As Golden Eaglets Qualify For World Cup
Nigeria's U-17 national team the Golden Eaglets on Saturday booked their place in the semifinals of the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations and ultimately the U-17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil following their 1-1 draw against Uganda in their last Group A game.
Heading into the last group game, the Nigerian side had amassed six points after the 5-4 and 1-0 wins against Tanzania and Angola respectively.
The cadet side coached by Manu Garba were guilty of missing gilt-edged chances but battled hard to end the nervous first half on a scoreless note.
Uganda however broke the deadlock through John Kokas in the 69th minute but their lead lasted only five minutes as Ibraheem Jabaar scored with a close range effort.
Angola picked up the second ticket for Wednesday's semifinals. Cameroon from Group B have also qualified for the semifinals and the World Cup.
