Liverpool have won the Champions League after beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid on Saturday evening.

Egypt international Mohamed Salah put the Reds in front in the second minute, referee Damir Skomina pointed to the spot after Sadio Mane's cross struck Moussa Sissoko's outstretched arm.

Substitute Divock Origi put the game beyond Tottenham's reach with a second goal for the Anfield side three minutes from time.

In his half-time analysis on SuperSport, ex-Everton defender Joseph Yobo questioned the decision of the referee to award a disputed penalty to Liverpool very early in the game.

''If you look at it again, there is no Liverpool player that Mane is trying to pass the ball to. From behind, I understand what Dwight is saying but I have a slightly different view,'' said Yobo.

''If we can see the angle from the back, it shows that the ball hit his hand but from the front, it's a different view as well.

''It is soft, that's just over 30 seconds, I think that's the defining moment in the game. You are just starting the game and you get a penalty.

''I have seen most referees wouldn't give that but it's a decision that he made.

''If I were in his position, and I'm sure others would like to think that way as well, this is the Champions League final, in 30 seconds you are giving a penalty that is not a clear cut chance and that gave Liverpool the advantage.''

Salah became the fifth African player to score in a Champions League/European Cup final, after Rabah Madjer, Samuel Eto'o, Didier Drogba and Sadio Mane.
