Speaking at a press conference on Thursday before his side's La Liga meeting with Granada, Villarreal manager Unai Emery confirmed that Samuel Chukwueze is back in Spain after international duty with the Super Eagles.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner was not spotted training with his Villarreal teammates yesterday at Ciutat Esportiva de Miralcamp in their penultimate workout before their trip to the Andalusian province.
Chukwueze started the two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Republic of Benin and Lesotho.
"We are regaining normalcy with the return of the internationals: Gerard arrives tomorrow, Chukwueze who has arrived today, but will train tomorrow (Friday)," Emery told reporters at the pre-match press conference.
If selected by the former Arsenal manager, it will be Chukwueze's 86th appearance in the Spanish top-flight since making his debut in the 2018-2019 season.
The Yellow Submarine are sitting seventh in the table with 43 points before the matchday 29 fixture against Granada at the Nuevo Los Cármenes.
Chukwueze has helped Villarreal win their last four matches in all competitions.
