Wilfred Ndidi was on media duties on Saturday and one of the questions put to him was on his relationship with Super Eagles and Leicester City teammate Kelechi Iheanacho.
The camaraderie between Ndidi and Iheanacho is there for everyone to see, especially on social media. where they post videos to amuse their followers.
The duo have known each other for almost a decade as they were part of the Golden Eaglets class of 2013 before their promotion to the U20 squad for the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup.
A stroke of fortune saw them become teammates at Leicester City in 2017, with the holding midfielder moving to the King Power Stadium seven months before the arrival of the striker.
"Concerning what you said about me and Seniorman Kelechi the friendship is genuine, " Ndidi told reporters.
"I have known Seniorman Kels since my U17 days, we have been very close and even when he came to Leicester City he was just a plus to me because he's naturally funny.
"Though the social media thing is just there, it is just for the fun, for the vibes and nothing really serious.
"I'd say he's someone that everybody wants to be around because he is naturally funny."
Ndidi and Iheanacho along with another Premier League star in William Troost-Ekong are the only players to have started the three matches played by Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
