Watford confirm shirt numbers for six Nigerians including Reading-bound Dele-Bashiru
Ahead of their opening game in the Premier League against Aston Villa this weekend, Watford through their official website have confirmed the shirt numbers the first team players will be wearing this season.
The Hornets bolstered their squad with the signings of Oghenekaro Etebo on loan from Stoke City, Club Brugge winger Emmanuel Dennis and Glasgow Rangers academy product Dapo Mebude in the summer transfer window.
Mebude has joined League One side AFC Wimbledon on loan for the 2021-2022 campaign, with a recall option in January 2022, so has not been allocated a kit number.
Super Eagles stars William Troost-Ekong and Isaac Success, promising winger Joseph Hungbo, and Nigeria U23 international Tom Dele-Bashiru have been retained by the Hornets for the time being ahead of the start of the season.
Troost-Ekong and Success have been allocated the number 5 and 22 respectively - the same numbers they wore on the back of their jerseys in 2020-2021.
Hungbo has opted for a switch of number, dropping the number 44 he wore last season for number 36.
Dele-Bashiru has been given a squad number, 24, despite his imminent season-long loan move to Championship outfit Reading without option to buy, pending a physical.
Etebo has taken the number 4 jersey he wore during the pre-season and Dennis has been given number 25.
