Watford's Nigeria underage international joins Reading on loan without option to buy, subject to medical

Championship club Reading are on the verge of announcing the signing of Watford midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru.

Watford Observer has reported that the Nigeria underage international is set to join the Royals on a season-long loan and allnigeriasoccer.com has additional confirmation that the move is 'definitely happening' subject to a routine medical.

This website can report with certainty that Dele-Bashiru's imminent move to Reading does not come with an option to buy him outright at the end of the 2021-2022 season.

It is understood that the deal is expected to be concluded today or tomorrow, bearing it in mind that the travel time between Hertfordshire and Reading is only one hour.

Dele-Bashiru's move to Reading makes sense as the central midfielder would have struggled to break into Watford's starting lineup in the new Premier League season after recovering from a long-term injury that required surgery.

In 2020-2021, his season was cut short when he picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury in a Championship clash against Reading on October 3.

A member of the Dream Team VII squad to the 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations, Dele-Bashiru links up with Super Eagles hopeful Ovie Ejaria and Femi Azeez at Reading.
