'We dominated' - Super Eagles forward Lookman reacts after winning Man of the Match award

Atalanta dazzler Ademola Lookman was named Man of the March after his goal and double assist inspired the Super Eagles to a 3-2 victory over Tunisia in their second group match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

After seeing five goals disallowed, Victor Osimhen finally ended his goal drought at the Afcon in the 44th minute, heading home a delivery from Lookman to give Nigeria a 1-0 lead at the break.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi, with his first ever international goal, doubled the lead with Lookman providing an assist again, before the former African Footballer of the Year scored to give Nigeria a 3-0 lead midway through the second period.

It looked like Eric Chelle's side were cruising over the line, but instead Montassar Talbi headed home in the 74th minute and then Ali Abdi, from the penalty spot in the 87th minute, made it an exciting finish.

However, the North Africans could not do enough as Nigeria advanced to the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations for the sixteenth time in a row.

Reacting to being named the Man of the Match, Lookman said: "Three points on the board, so it's a step in the right direction. We dominated from the first half to the second half.

"They had a spell where they scored two goals, but overall we were very good today."

Lookman also acknowledged the role of the Super Eagles supporters, urging them to continue backing the team as the tournament progresses.

"Keep supporting us, we really need you. Keep being behind us and supporting us.

Lookman has registered four goal involvements (2 goals, 2 assists) at Afcon 2025, a tally not bettered by any other player after two rounds of matches.
