FC Porto coach Francesco Farioli has explained Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi’s limited playing time following Porto’s 1-0 victory over Rio Ave FC on Sunday.
Moffi, who is on loan at Porto from OGC Nice, made his appearance off the bench.
Farioli confirmed that the striker was introduced late in the match with plans to manage his fitness carefully ahead of upcoming fixtures.
“We had already done it once or twice, in this game it was for a few minutes and then I put Terem [Moffi] to close the game,” Farioli said, as quoted by Maisfutebol.
He added, “He did ten minutes, but with good impact, but I also wanted to protect him a little bit because on Monday morning we will have a friendly game, in which he can have 60 minutes.”
The coach emphasized the importance of gradually reintegrating the Nigerian striker into full match rhythm after his recent absence from competitive football.
“I want him to be ready, we need to get him back so that, as soon as possible, he has more minutes,” Farioli stated.
Moffi previously made his Porto debut against CD Nacional and continues working toward earning more regular minutes in the Portuguese league as the season progresses.
The club remains focused on managing his recovery and integration into the squad.
