Speaking to reporters after Tuesday's training session on grass, Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr warned the Super Eagles players not to underestimate Liberia when both teams trade tackles in their opening 2022 World Cup qualifier.
And to buttress his point, the German football tactician referred to the Super Eagles' 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match back in November 2020.
Rohr wants the Super Eagles to make an impact straightaway and was delighted to see his players in good physical condition.
"I think with the shape of our players, what I saw in the training session already this morning and this afternoon we can trust in our team," Rohr said.
"We have to be careful, we never underrate anybody, we don't forget what happened in Benin City a few months ago and we must take this opponent very seriously.
"We will prepare very well, we have another two training sessions tomorrow and after tomorrow and then we will be ready if it's like today - not too hot, fresh wind, fresh air, good pitch - then we play good football".
Nigeria will face Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on September 3, before traveling to Mindelo for their second 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Cape Verde on September 7.
