Nigerian forward Sadiq Umar has revealed his delight after playing a decisive role in Valencia’s crucial 1-0 victory over Osasuna on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker was once again the standout performer as Valencia secured a valuable three points in their bid to climb further away from the relegation zone in La Liga.
Although Largie Ramazani converted the decisive penalty, it was Sadiq’s intelligent movement and persistence that won the spot-kick after he was brought down inside the area.
Reacting to the victory, the former AS Roma player emphasized the team’s determination and collective effort in the buildup to the encounter.
“It’s important for us to win the three points today,” Sadiq told Valencia's official website after the game on Sunday.
The 29-year-old striker highlighted the work done behind the scenes during the week, stressing that the result was a reward for the squad’s commitment on the training ground.
“We’ve been working hard this week to give the fans what they deserve, and now we finally have the three points and are already looking forward to the next match,” he added.
His ability to hold up play, stretch defences and create decisive moments has made him a key figure in Valencia’s survival push.
Beyond his attacking contribution, he also worked tirelessly to help the team maintain their slim advantage as Osasuna pressed for an equalizer late on.
With momentum beginning to build, Valencia will hope Sadiq can continue to deliver in the crucial weeks ahead as they seek to secure their top-flight status.
