Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has drawn a firm line under the turbulent summer that saw him heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan, insisting he is now fully focused on the present after delivering an impressive performance in Wednesday night’s 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.
The Nigerian international was one of the standout performers as Atalanta secured a decisive UEFA Champions League win, scoring the opening goal before providing an assist in a dominant display.
Lookman, who endured months of transfer tension after Inter pushed for his signature and he attempted to force a move, used his post-match comments to underline that the episode is now behind him.
Speaking to Sky Sport after the match, he emphasised the importance of concentrating solely on Atalanta’s season.
"An important victory at this time, it wasn't easy, the team performed great,” Lookman said, as quoted by Calciomercato.
The forward also expressed his appreciation for his attacking partners, Gianluca Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere, noting the ease with which they link up in the final third.
"Playing with Scamacca and De Ketelaere is very easy; they're quality players. We'll continue to work and improve for the championship," he added.
Lookman stressed that the atmosphere in the squad is positive and that the team is determined to build on this momentum as the season progresses.
He also spoke highly of head coach Raffaele Palladino, whose attacking philosophy has quickly shaped Atalanta’s style of play.
"Palladino? The coach wants attacking, entertaining football. What happened in the summer has happened. The most important thing is now: we have to win games and improve every day. I'm focused on that,” the forward said, making clear his intention to put past disputes aside and direct his energy toward helping Atalanta achieve their objectives.
