Super Falcons hopeful Ashleigh Plumptre reckons that Leicester City's win on penalties against Manchester United will be a massive confidence boost heading into the fixture against Women's Super League leaders Arsenal at Meadow Park.
The Foxes have struggled to rediscover their form of last season, losing all their eight matches in the top-flight, leading to the dismissal of First Team Manager Jonathan Morgan late last month.
Plumptre gave a good account of herself against Manchester United and could have scored what would have been the winning goal in the second half but saw her header miss the target.
Arsenal, Leicester City's next opponents, are the only undefeated team in the Super League, winning seven games and drawing the other so a tough test awaits Plumptre and her teammates in Borehamwood this evening.
Speaking to Leicester's official website, Plumptre said : "We all have to be able to make those adaptations, but for Arsenal, we are just trying to take what we did against Man Utd into that game.
"We haven’t tried to focus too much on Arsenal, more on just ourselves.
"Hopefully with the confidence we have from the game against Man Utd, we can take that into Arsenal.
"We’re there to compete, we know what the standards look like, but you go into every game the same and we’re excited for the opportunity."
With the exception of the 2-1 loss at Aston Villa, Plumptre has gone the distance in all the matches played by Leicester City in the Women's Super League this season.
