Argentina GK, Who Conceded 4 Goals Against Nigeria, Breaks Silence On Defeat
América de México's Argentina goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín has broken his silence on the humiliating defeat suffered by the two-time world champions in an international friendly against Nigeria in Krasnodar in November 2017.
Despite conceding four goals against Nigeria, Marchesín is optimistic that he will be named to Argentina's roster for the World Cup, where he may be handed another opportunity to redeem his image in a Group D clash on June 26, 2018.
''I've been doing things well for a while now to have a chance in the National Team, the game does not delimit anything, it was not the dreamed game, but for a long time I have been fighting to have opportunities,'' Marchesín told TyC Sports.
"I want to continue in the team, I am happy with my form in America, I fight every day to be in the World Cup, it is the maximum for a player, it would be very nice to be part, work to do things right here and, if the chance comes, good.''
Agustín Marchesín is behind Manchester United's Sergio Romero in manager Sampaoli's pecking order of goalkeepers, and only made his third international appearance against the Super Eagles.
Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi and Brian Idowu were on target for the Nigerian national team in their pre-World Cup friendly vs Argentina.
