Queens Park Rangers boss Steve McClaren has showered praise on John Obi Mikel and believes the Chelsea legend has been an excellent signing for Middlesbrough.
The Nigeria skipper was in brilliant form for Boro as they registered a 2-0 success against the Hoops on Saturday to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Despite the central midfielder inactive for three months before returning to England, he has shown amazing fitness, which is backed up by the fact that he has played the entirety of Boro's last four games in the Championship.
"They've got one of the best, a Champions League winner. He dominates in there, he takes care of the ball.
"Every team needs a Mikel. He's certainly the kind of enforcer in there, defensively and he keeps the ball ticking.
"I've been impressed with him. He's given another edge to Middlesbrough."
Mikel was linked with potential moves to European giants such as
Wolfsburg, AS Roma and Fenerbahce as well as clubs in the Premier League
before manager Tony Pulis convinced him to join Boro on a short-team
deal in the winter transfer market.
