Ex-Real Madrid Striker, New Signing Simbakoli On Target As Lille Beat Mouscron In Friendly

Two players of Nigerian descent, Cedric Omoigui and Usman Simbakoli, were on target for their respective teams as Lille defeated Royal Excel Mouscron 2-1 in a pre-season friendly staged at the Stade du Canonnier on Saturday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

With Mouscron trailing 2-0, former Real Madrid youth-teamer Omoigui halved the deficit for the Belgian First Division A team eleven minutes from time.

The Mastiffs led 1-0 at the break courtesy of Xeka who converted a spot kick in the third minute.

Lille's brand new signing from SCO Angers, Simbakoli, who is eligible to represent France, Nigeria and Central African Republic internationally, thought he had put the French team 2-0 up four minutes after the restart but the goal was chalked off for offside.

But the 19-year-old was not denied a second time when he doubled Lille's lead in the 76th minute.

One-time Nigeria U20 invitee Omoigui was substituted in to replace Agim in the 61st minute while Simbakoli was introduced at half-time for his Lille debut.

Victor Osimhen was not included in the Lille squad for the friendly as a departure is on the cards this summer.

Up next, Lille face Club Brugge in their next friendly, followed by games against Kortrijk and Anderlecht, while their first competitive game of the new season comes up against Rennes on August 22.
