Dutch football pundit Ruud van Os has predicted that goalkeeper Maduka Okoye will depart Sparta Rotterdam in the summer after putting himself in the shop window with a string of fine performances in the Dutch Eredivisie.
The Nigeria international has cemented his place in Sparta Rotterdam's starting lineup with manager Henk Fraser preferring him to the more experienced Benjamin van Leer who was in goal for the first six games of the season.
In Okoye's first top-flight game, it looked like he wasn't going to make it after conceding four goals in a home match against Heerenveen but responded brilliantly in his next two, keeping clean sheets against RKC Waalwijk and ADO Den Haag.
The German-born glovesman is highly thought of by manager Gernot Rohr, having gone the distance in the last four matches played by the Super Eagles.
Ruud van Os was impressed by Okoye's display in his last league game for Sparta Rotterdam, saying he prevented ADO Den Haag from scoring more goals.
"Sparta can be very happy that Okoye is in the goal. I just don't think we will be happy with him for very long," Van Os said in the Sparta edition of the FC Rijnmond Podcast.
"There is a lot of demand for good keepers. I think he will leave soon. I would be surprised if he is still with Sparta next season."
Okoye is tied to Sparta Rotterdam until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
