With a statement on their official website, Barnsley have announced that they have triggered a one-year extension in the contract of former Arsenal schoolboy Victor Adeboyejo.
The 23-year-old center forward is now contracted to the Reds until the end of the 2021-2022 season.
Since joining Barnsley in November 2017 following a successful trial, he has featured in 57 matches, scoring six goals.
Adeboyejo, who attracted interest from Chelsea before moving to Barnsley, has enjoyed loan spells at Bristol Rovers and Cambridge United in recent seasons.
Barnsley FC Chief Executive Officer, Dane Murphy, said: “We are delighted with the progress that Victor is making and he is continuing to make effective contributions to the team each game.
"Victor has worked extremely hard throughout his time at the Club, from under 23s to the senior squad, and he is reaping the rewards now with regular first team football under Valérien Ismaël.
"We hope he can continue to impress and add to his goal tally."
Born in Ibadan, Adeboyejo spent the formative years of his career with the youth teams of Arsenal, AFC Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic before joining Leyton Orient, from where he moved to Barnsley.
