Official : Cambridge United sign West Ham's Nigeria-eligible striker on scholar terms

EFL League One side Cambridge United officially announced their new intake of academy scholars for the 2021-2022 season on Monday, July 19.

United have confirmed the signing of Anglo-Nigerian teenager Brandon Njoku to join the club as part of their latest intake into the U18 squad.

In preparation for the academy season which starts on August 7, 2021, he attended Cambridge United youth team pre-season camp at Oakham School, Rutland last week.

Giving the lowdown on Njoku, Cambridge United wrote : "Pacey forward Brandon is from Wembley and joins Cambridge United after spending his U16 season at West Ham United.

"A player who will always be looking to make forward runs to get into goalscoring positions. A brilliant character both on-and-off the pitch whose enthusiasm will rub off on all of his teammates."

Faruq Usman, who is eligible to represent the national teams of Republic of Ireland and Nigeria, has also signed scholarship forms at Cambridge United.

Usman, who has been at Cambridge United since the end of his U13 season,  has been described as 'a quick left-footed striker has the ability to get himself into goalscoring positions frequently'.
