The third edition of the annual NFF-Aiteo Football Awards took place at a glamour event inside the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island. on Monday night.
Awards were handed out to the best performers in different categories, with Racing Genk striker Paul Onuachu taking the prize for the Best Performance of the Year (Men; Overseas-based) and Barcelona star Asisat Oshola collecting the Best Performance of the Year (Women; Overseas-based).
Onuachu performed at a high level in the 2020-2021 campaign, scoring 35 goals in the Belgian First Division A and Cup.
On the international stage, he netted crucial goals against Republic of Benin and Lesotho in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after coming off the bench.
The awards have been coming left, right and centre for the FC Ebedei product; he won the Ebony Shoe, Golden Boot and Belgian Professional Footballer of the Year awards in the last few months.
Oshoala enjoyed a terrific trophy-laden season with Barcelona, helping the Blaugranes win the UEFA Women's Champions League, Primera División and Copa de la Reina.
Silas Nwankwo and Charles Atshimene shared the Best Performance of the Year (Men; Nigeria-based) award, while Gift Monday won the Best Performance of the Year (Women; Nigeria-based).
