European champions Chelsea are reportedly in the driving seat to sign former Manchester United starlet of Nigerian descent Deji Sotona.
Football Insider claims that the Blues are the best-placed club to sign the 19-year-old Sotona after failing to land him in the summer.
The Irish-born winger transferred to OGC Nice in September 2020 after turning down a new deal at Manchester United but his move to the French Ligue 1 club has not really worked out for him.
Fifteen months after his switch to the Eaglets, he has yet to make his competitive debut, not helped by the fact that Patrick Vieira who convinced him to join the club he departed as manager in December 2020.
Sotona has been described as a player with a huge potential, powerful and skillful, and wide attacker who can also play through the middle.
Over his time at Manchester United, he scored four goals in 16
appearances in the U18 Premier League, netted once in four matches in
the FA Youth Cup and featured in the EFL Trophy.
