Ex-Man Utd schoolboy among 7 Nigeria-eligible players registered by Watford in new EPL squad
Watford have submitted their updated squad list to the Premier League for the rest of the 2021-2022 season following the conclusion of the January transfer window.
Premier League squad rules state that clubs can submit two lists of players with the first list containing maximum of twenty five players and an additional list of U21 players who are eligible over and above the squad limit of 25 players.
William Troost-Ekong, Oghenekaro Etebo, Emmanuel Dennis and Samuel Kalu are the Nigerian players new Watford boss Roy Hodgson can call upon for Premier League games, with the Super Eagles quartet included on the main list.
Though he is a Nigeria international and was born in the Netherlands, Troost-Ekong is classed as a homegrown player having been registered with clubs affiliated with the Football Association for three seasons before his 21st birthday.
Former Manchester United schoolboy Hamzat Balogun, defender Darrin Enahoro-Marcus and promising striker Emmanuel Adeyemo have been registered as U21 players and scholars.
Dapo Mebude and Joseph Hungbo were also listed as U21 players but are not eligible to represent Watford as they have been loaned out to AFC Wimbledon and Ross County respectively.
