IFK Goteborg in advanced talks to sign Union Berlin's Nigerian attacker

18-time Swedish champions IFK Goteborg are in advanced talks over a deal to sign Union Berlin's Nigerian attacker Suleiman Abdullahi.

Swedish newspaper Expressen says the negotiations between the parties are far advanced and the Blue-white are hoping to present Abdullahi as a new signing in the coming days.

Abdullahi has started following IFK Goteborg on Instagram, fueling speculation that a transfer is imminent.

The 25-year-old still has a contract with Union Berlin until June 30, 2022 so he has to terminate his contract by mutual consent in order to join the Swedish Allsvenskan side as a free agent before the end of this month.

The former Flying Eagle star was inactive throughout the 2021-2022 campaign, though he was a non-playing substitute in three German Bundesliga matches.

Since 2016, he has been playing in Germany, first representing Eintracht Braunschweig, for whom he scored 11 goals in 61 appearances, before switching to Union Berlin in 2018.

Previously, Abdullahi played in Scandinavia for Viking FK.
