Arsenal came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Aston Villa in their final home game of the season in the U18 Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Gunners U18s coach Jack Wilshere gave game time to promising goalkeeper of Nigerian descent Brian Okonkwo and he was joined in the starting lineup by hugely talented Flying Eagles-eligible attack-minded player Ethan Nwaneri.
Nwaneri has enjoyed a memorable campaign in 2022-2023, having made debuts in the Premier League, Premier League 2, FA Youth Cup and Papa Johns Trophy.
And he played a key role in the Gunners come-from-behind win with two goals to his name.
After Finley Munroe broke the deadlock from the penalty spot, the England U17 international of Nigerian descent leveled matters with fifteen minutes left on the clock when he found space to slot the ball home after he was teed up by Michał Rosiak.
Four minutes from time, Nwaneri got his name onto the scoresheet again as he tucked the ball into the bottom corner.
The 16-year-old has now scored eight goals in all competitions for Arsenal youth teams this season.
Nwaneri has been offered a scholarship by Arsenal ahead of the club's return to the UEFA Youth League.
