Chelsea utility player Victor Moses recently called time on his international career with the Super Eagles at the age of 27.
Rohr took some time to reflect on his 24-man squad for next month's 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Seychelles, which was announced on Friday, with Bordeaux new signing Kalu getting a deserved call up.
The former Burkina Faso tactician insists the move could prove a masterstroke.
"Samuel Kalu is a young player at 21. He is an exciting winger," Rohr said.
"He can be the successor to Victor Moses at the right side," he added.
Kalu is in line to make his official Super Eagles debut against Seychelles in Victoria in September.
