Ferencvaros and Panathinaikos played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in their UEFA Europa League clash at the Groupama Arena, with Dele Yusuf scoring for the hosts.
That goal took his total goal involvements this season to 18 across all competitions, comprising two in the Nemzeti Bajnokság, four in the Europa League, six in the Superliga Srbije, and six in the Hungarian Cup
Yusuf converted a penalty to give Ferencváros the lead in the 62nd minute but Panathinaikos responded late in the match to secure a point.
The equalizer came from Moroccan midfielder Anass Zaroury in the 86th minute, who fired a powerful left-footed shot beyond Ferencváros goalkeeper David Grof, making it 1-1.
Ferencváros had several opportunities before Yusuf’s penalty but were unable to convert them into goals.
Panathinaikos also had notable chances throughout the game, but they had to wait until the closing stages to level the score.
Nigerian striker Cyril Dessers, who plays for Panathinaikos, was absent from the match as he continues his recovery from an injury sustained a few weeks ago.
The draw leaves both teams in positions to continue competing in the Europa League group stage, with Ferencváros still seeking direct qualification to the Round of 16.
Panathinaikos’ point keeps them in contention for a place in the knockout playoff zone.
The match ended with Ferencváros and Panathinaikos sharing the spoils after a competitive encounter in Budapest, marked by Yusuf’s penalty and Zaroury’s late equalizer.
