'A very important match' - Osimhen motivates Galatasaray teammates before Intercontinental Derby

Victor Osimhen has urged his Galatasaray teammates to approach Sunday's Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe with focus and determination.

With four matches remaining in the 2025-2026 Super Lig season, the Intercontinental Derby could prove decisive in determining whether the title race is effectively settled.

Galatasaray hold a four-point lead over second-placed Fenerbahçe and sit seven points clear of Trabzonspor.

Having recently recovered from injury, Osimhen returned to action after a 35-day absence in Galatasaray's 2-0 loss to Genclerbirligi in the quarterfinal of the Turkish Cup.

After the match, the Nigeria international was seen consoling goalkeeper Günay Güvenç, who was booed by a section of the fans.

Osimhen is playing a leadership role within the squad ahead of the derby, delivering an encouraging message to his teammates during preparations.

According to Turkish sports daily Fanatik, Osimhen told his teammates: "A very important match awaits us. Like everyone else, I'm eagerly anticipating it. Now is not the time to be upset.

"We're going into an important match for the championship, and we need to prepare ourselves well."

Osimhen has been a key figure for Galatasaray this season, making 30 appearances across all competitions and contributing 19 goals and 7 assists.
