Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen are on the brink of completing the signing of former Nigeria U20 international Afeez Aremu.
According to Sky Sports UK, Aberdeen are closing in on the signing of Kaiserslautern defensive midfielder.
Previously, the Nigerian had been linked with potential moves to clubs in Poland, Israel and Turkey, but Aberdeen have now surged ahead of their rivals in the race for the midfielder.
The 26-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in Scotland in the coming days before putting pen to paper on a contract.
Aremu is eager to leave Kaiserslautern before the January transfer window closes after struggling for regular playing time, having made just one start from a possible 21 appearances across all competitions.
He was a key member of the Flying Eagles squad at the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in the Republic of Niger, featuring in three matches before an injury ruled him out for the remainder of the tournament.
Over the course of his career, Aremu has represented Sharks, Remo Stars, Sunshine Stars, Rivers United, Akwa United, IK Start and St. Pauli.
The midfielder has six months remaining on his contract with Kaiserslautern.
