Four Super Eagles stars, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Akor Adams, and Wilfred Ndidi, have been named in the AFCON Team of the Tournament so far by Whoscored.com following the conclusion of the quarterfinal matches.
Their inclusion comes after Nigeria’s impressive 2-0 victory over Algeria at the Marrakech Stadium on Saturday, a result that secured the Super Eagles a place in the semifinals alongside Morocco, Senegal, and Egypt.
The quartet played key roles in the dominant display against the Desert Foxes, who failed to register a single shot on target.
Galatasaray striker Osimhen was instrumental, scoring one goal and providing an assist, while Akor Adams netted the second goal to seal the win.
Ndidi and Lookman were also outstanding, dictating play and ensuring Nigeria controlled the contest from start to finish.
Osimhen and Adams lead the forward line in the team, while Ndidi and Lookman feature in midfield alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Yasser Ibrahim and Ramy Rabia were selected to partner in central defence, with Krépin Diatta and Noussair Mazraoui named as the full-backs.
As Nigeria prepares for a semifinal showdown against host nation Morocco, the Super Eagles will be hoping their in-form stars can maintain their momentum and guide the team into the final of the tournament.
