After missing out on Dorgu, Obaze and Billing, NFF want to poach Newcastle forward from Denmark

The Nigeria Football Federation have turned their attention to Newcastle United forward William Osula after failing to convince three other Danish-Nigerian players to switch their allegiance to the African giants.

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu, former Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing and Portland Thorns centre-back Isabella Obaze are no longer eligible to represent Nigeria after featuring in cap-tying games for their country of birth, Denmark.

According to Danish sports magazine Tipsbladet, Osula has been contacted through his agent by the Nigerian Football Federation, who want to poach him from Denmark.

Nigeria are targeting the Premier League forward, aware that he has not featured in a competitive match for Denmark's senior team.

Since June 2023, Osula has been provisionally cap-tied to Denmark after coming off the bench to feature in a European U21 Championship qualifier against Lithuania.

The Sheffield United academy graduate is still there for the taking at international level after he was an unused substitute in 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Scotland, Greece, North Macedonia and Czech Republic.

Osula's recent form has been outstanding, registering three goals in his last four Premier League league appearances, including the winner against Manchester United.

The 22-year-old has netted eight goals in fifteen outings for Denmark U21s.
