'After Oktay, Osimhen excites me the most' - Galatasaray president raves about club-record signing

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has continued to express admiration for Victor Osimhen, as the Super Eagles striker’s impact at the club continues to grow following his remarkable performances in Türkiye.

The former Lille forward has enjoyed a spectacular spell with the Istanbul giants, transforming himself into one of the most feared attackers in the Süper Lig.

According to club reporter Yakup Çınar, Özbek remains highly impressed by Osimhen’s attitude and work rate.

“Among the strikers who have played for Galatasaray, after Metin Oktay, Victor Osimhen is the one who excites me the most,” Özbek said, as quoted by habersarikirmizi

He also added, “We admire Osimhen even when we watch him in training. He performs as if he's in a match even there. We're afraid he might get injured,” highlighting the striker’s relentless intensity.

Osimhen’s journey with Galatasaray has been nothing short of spectacular. Initially joining the Turkish giants on loan from Napoli, the 27-year-old delivered an extraordinary 2024-25 campaign in which he scored 26 league goals to claim the Süper Lig top scorer title.

He also became the highest-scoring foreign player in a single Turkish season, finishing with 37 goals across all competitions.

His goals were instrumental as Galatasaray secured another domestic league crown while also lifting the Turkish Cup, further cementing his reputation among supporters.

Following that sensational campaign, the Istanbul club moved quickly to secure Osimhen on a permanent basis, breaking the Turkish transfer record with a €75 million deal to sign him from Napoli on a four-year contract beginning in the 2025-26 season.

Osimhen has continued his prolific form into the current 2025-26 season, where he has already scored 17 goals in all competitions.

His tally includes 10 goals in the Süper Lig and 7 goals in the UEFA Champions League, helping Galatasaray maintain strong performances both domestically and in Europe.
