Ahmed Musa Joins Chelsea Star Mikel As Most Expensive Nigerian Player Signed
New Leicester City signing Ahmed Musa has equaled the record transfer fee paid by a foreign club for a Nigerian player following his move to the Premier League champs.<br /><br />When Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2006, the Blues paid Manchester United and Lyn Oslo £16 million to sign the defensive midfielder, with the English team compensated £12 million.<br /><br />For the past ten years, no Nigerian player has cost that amount in transfer fees until Musa completed his move to the Foxes on Friday.<br /><br />The <i>BBC</i> has confirmed that CSKA Moscow will pocket £16 million from the sale of the striker to Leicester City.<br /><br />Former Super Eagles midfielder Austin Okocha was the most expensive Nigerian player when he joined PSG from Fenerbahce in 1998 for a fee of $17 million, and that record stood for eight years until it was broken by Mikel. <br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel<br /><br />Photo Credit : chelseafc.com<br />
