Arthur Okonkwo maintained his impressive run of form on Wednesday night as Wrexham sealed a 2-0 victory over Bristol City at the SToK Cae Ras, with the goalkeeper registering his fourth consecutive clean sheet in the EFL Championship.
The former England youth international is among the dual-national players being monitored by manager Eric Chelle ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, and it remains to be seen whether he will be named in the Super Eagles' provisional squad for the tournament in Morocco.
The Arsenal academy product has been a commanding presence between the sticks, recording shutouts in successive matches against Portsmouth, Charlton Athletic, Ipswich Town and now Bristol City.
The last time Okonkwo was breached was on October 31 when Tatsuhiro Sakamoto struck late in Wrexham's 3–2 win over Coventry City.
Wrexham broke the deadlock in the 16th minute through Nathan Broadhead, who curled a fine effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Six minutes before the interval, Bristol City thought they had levelled through Ross McCrorie, but the goal was chalked off after Emil Riis was adjudged to have fouled Okonkwo in the build-up.
The Red Dragons doubled their lead in the 74th minute when goalkeeper Radek Vítek diverted the ball into his own net.
Okonkwo capped another commanding display in stoppage time, tipping a powerful shot over the crossbar to preserve his clean sheet — the 42nd of his Wrexham career in 93 all-competition appearances.
