Aston Villa make inquiry for Nigeria's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations star

Aston Villa have reportedly made an inquiry about Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika following a serious injury to their midfielder Boubacar Kamara, according to transfer market expert Sacha Tavolieri

The Premier League club is seeking midfield cover in light of Kamara’s absence and is actively exploring options to strengthen their squad.

The potential signing of Onyedika would provide Villa with additional depth and flexibility in central midfield during a critical period of the season.

Onyedika, currently under contract with Belgian side Club Brugge, has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the winter window.

While Villa’s approach demonstrates genuine interest, Tavolieri reports that Turkish club Galatasaray remains the most likely destination for the 24‑year-old midfielder.

Galatasaray have reportedly intensified their efforts to secure Onyedika during the mid‑season transfer window.

Onyedika has featured prominently for Club Brugge and has attracted attention for his performances at both club and international levels.

At the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, he played five matches for Nigeria, scoring two goals. His contributions in midfield, including defensive work, passing, and goal-scoring ability, have made him a player of interest to several European clubs.
