Besiktas keen to retain Super Eagles captain Ndidi amid Manchester United links

Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that Beşiktaş are determined to retain Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi, despite speculation linking the experienced defensive midfielder with a move to Premier League heavyweights Manchester United before the close of the January transfer window.

Manchester United are in the market for a holding midfielder ahead of the deadline, with reports claiming that former Beşiktaş manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær has recommended Ndidi to the Old Trafford hierarchy.

However, this website understands that Beşiktaş have no intention of parting ways with the Super Eagles captain in January and reports claiming Ndidi has been offered to Manchester United did not originate from the Istanbul club.

This is not the first time Ndidi has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils previously considered signing the Nath Boys product before his transfer from Genk to Leicester City in January 2017.

Former United manager José Mourinho was keen on the midfielder at the time, but the club’s board failed to act swiftly on the request.

Ndidi arrived at Beşiktaş last summer after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defensive midfielders.

During his time in England, the 29-year-old made 220 top-flight appearances, scoring seven goals and providing fourteen assists.

Meanwhile, Ndidi remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained during Nigeria’s quarterfinal victory over Algeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

As a result, he was not included in Beşiktaş’ squad for their ongoing Turkish Super Lig fixture against Eyüpspor.
