English Premier League champions Liverpool and German Bundesliga clubs have suffered a blow in their pursuit of American-born striker of Nigerian descent Folarin Balogun in the winter transfer market.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that the England U20 international will be staying put at Arsenal until at least the end of the 2020-2021 season.
It means the highly-rated attacker would be leaving the Gunners on a free transfer if he does not extend his contract with the club, but the Emirates Stadium outfit would be due compensation as he is under the age of 24.
Arsenal were willing to listen to offers for Balogun in the winter transfer market rather than allowing him run down his contract but the clubs interested in his services are prepared to wait until the summer.
The 19-year-old is thinking about leaving Arsenal due to a lack of first-team chances, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah ahead of him in manager Mikel Arteta's pecking order of strikers.
Balogun, who joined Arsenal at U8 level, has not figured for the first team since scoring and providing an assist in a 4-2 win over Dundalk in the Europa League fifty-three days ago.
