Brentford manager Keith Andrews has confirmed that teenage forward Kaye Furo will be available for selection when the Bees face Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday, opening the door for a potential Premier League debut.
Furo, the son of former Super Eagles central defender Iyenemi Furo, joined Brentford during the winter transfer window after an impressive spell with Belgian giants Club Brugge.
The 19-year-old arrived at the Gtech Community Stadium with a growing reputation, having excelled at youth level before earning opportunities with Brugge’s senior side.
During his time in Belgium, Furo made five league appearances for Club Brugge, scoring once, and also featured in the UEFA Champions League, coming on in the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal.
His performances marked him out as one of the club’s promising young attackers before his move to England.
However, since joining Brentford in January, the young forward has been named in the matchday squad only once, during the 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, as he continues to settle into his new environment and adapt to the demands of English football.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Andrews confirmed Furo’s availability alongside Reiss Nelson, who has recovered from a minor knock.
“Two that will come back into the equation will be Kaye [Furo] and Reiss Nelson," Andrews was quoted as saying by Brentford's official website while providing update on the squad.
"Reiss had picked up a little knock, very minor, which is why he wasn’t available for that game [against Aston Villa].”
Kaye Furo will hope to make his debut against Magpies and showcase his potential to the manager to secure consistent playing time and continue his development.
